Swedish Institute
Swedish Institute is an allied health college in Manhattan, with a legacy spanning over 100 years. My design work with the school began in 2009 working with the Continuing Education department and over time grew to managing creative services campus-wide. In April 2019, I partnered with leadership to direct and design the brand refresh. In addition updating the visual identity, our focus was to streamline the look and feel of the school through all collateral, from the logo and seal to how things were communicated on campus. The rebrand included a refreshed logo, seal, building a photo library of real students, brand guidelines, revised collateral and various templates for staff use.
Brand Refresh
Swedish Institute has been recognized globally as one of the leading schools for massage therapy. Having worked for the school for over a decade before the brand refresh, I knew the importance of the logo and seal update being a “refresh” that spoke to the history as opposed to replacing it. My approach with the redesign of the logo was to update the typography, refresh the color palette, and update the placement of the stripes that represented the Swedish flag.
Once the brand refresh was complete, I lead in the design and collaboration with vendors to update general items such as business cards, name tags, signage, uniforms and more.
Office of Admissions
In 2014 I began taking on many aspects of the creative marketing needs for the Office of Admissions. One of my first projects was to create a Program Lookbook to promote the, at the time, new iPad Program that was launching. The Lookbook would be utilized by the Admissions Representatives to showcase the interactive features of iBooks while communicating information on the program. It also allowed for a more engaging interview process, as many of the features were interactive. I wrote, designed, illustrated and maintained updates to the Program Lookbooks from 2014 to 2020.
Other ongoing items I owned and maintained include but were not limited to: email blast strategy, design and coding; collateral for events, environmental signage, brochure and postcard mailers, program slicks, pocket folders, other promotional print materials; the college catalog, and more.
Student Services
My main role for the Student Services department was managing the Graduation Ceremony needs. This included organizing the email blast schedule, managing RSVPs and ticket requests, invitation and program design, digital and print environmental signage, Snapchat geo-filters and more. Other ongoing responsibilities for the Student Services department included building flyer and deck templates for administrative use for events like Orientation.
